Well I am on my way back from Dallas with a few of my best friends! We took a quick road trip to see one of the biggest worship bands in the world Hillsong Live. It was such an awesome experience. Standing with thousands of others who believe in Christ enjoying a night of praising God. In the middle of the concert they took a moment to stop and share about the name of their newest album. God Is Able.
Living a life without passion is like a gun without bullets. Because God is able we have the right to live with passion. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
This semester it has been laid on my heart over an over again that people are messed up. We are such a mess. But that as a lover of Christ I am also a lover of people. To be there to speak truth into their lives and be that light. I am always all for being that light...
until that mess just starts overflowing from them. Their hurts, weaknesses, struggles, problems and worries become so overwhelming. That is where I have the tendency to turn and run. My light becomes dimmer and dimmer. I can't handle it. Or when they completely reject what I have to say. My self righteousness storms out and thinks "what is the point, they're never going to change." I become so discouraged. Why do I do this? Why do we do this? Why do we check out when it gets too messy?
The Hillsong experience as well as giving my testimony at our WT FCA this past Wednesday and hearing my friends share afterward I have been refueled and my eyes have been opened. I become discouraged so easily because I CANT DO IT. It is impossible for me to change hearts. It is impossible to persevere through certain struggles and situations in my life. BUT GOD IS ABLE!
Yes we are an absolute mess, but Christ who is fully God and became fully man stepped down from Heaven into our mess. Knowing what He was going to face and exactly who we were and exactly what nastiness we were covered with. He took joy in facing death on the cross for me, for us. To redeem us. To rescue us from our mess and give us freedom.
So I encourage you to live with passion. To be that light in the lives of people around you. But do it WITH Him. Be willing to persevere through situations and struggles with Him because He is able. Not in our own strength and in our own abilities or power, but in His strength and in His power! Not with your conditional love, but with His unconditional love. Because He has already paid the price and won the war we are able to live with passion and share that with others.
Much love.
